First drink after mother’s milk is water
Mother’s milk is the best and the healthiest food for the baby and it’ s needed to be stimulated during the first 4 to 6 months of life. During this period, healthy babies don’t need to drink water since breast milk provides the right amount of liquids they need.
But from the fifth or sixth month, along breastfeeding, he or she begins to eat solid foods, water can be delivered to a bottle, a teaspoon or a glass to reduce thirst.
Water is thus the first liquids to be offered to a baby, along with breast milk and ordinary meal.
Though most commonly used boiled water from the water supply, the best choice is filtrated water intended for infants, as well as mixing with baby’s food.
Pediatricians point out that the filtered water can be used to prepare dairy foods for babies since it is strictly safe and does not need to be boiled.
That means that filtered water is more than suitable for infants and young children – for drinking, preparing baby food and cooking.
Insufficient awareness of water intake in the body is already present among the adult population and therefore it is desirable to have a child’s habit of getting regular water intake from the first year.
